Frequently asked questions
FAQ
What families, rabbis, and communities ask us most often. If your question isn't here, write to us — we answer.
01 · General
Which nusach does Kehila A.I follow?
Exclusively the Sephardic nusach, primarily the Moroccan tradition. Pronunciation is Sephardic ("Modé Ani," "Barouch Atah"). We don't — and won't — have an Ashkenazi version.
What languages does it support?
English and French for the interface and phonetic transliteration. Hebrew for the prayer text. Both UI languages are fully maintained — Kehila A.I is bilingual Montreal.
How much does Kehila A.I cost?
Free. No in-app purchases, no subscription, no "premium" version. The project is funded by donations and by our family.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Every prayer is available without connection. Synagogue schedules and astronomical times update when you're online.
02 · The app
What is Karaoke mode?
Karaoke mode listens to your voice, identifies the word you're reading, and highlights it in gold. Useful for following a prayer you know by heart. Recognition runs locally on your device.
How does Kehila A.I know which Kiddush to suggest?
The smart picker reads the Hebrew date and the hour. Friday at dusk → Friday-night Kiddush. First night of Pessach → Seder Kiddush. You can always choose another variant.
And the Omer count?
Sefirat Ha'Omer appears automatically between Pessach and Shavuot. You find it in the Calendar tab (current counter) and in the Holiday tab (internal step inside Pessach). Same data — never two different counts.
How do I find this month's Hilloulot?
Calendar tab → Hilloulot section. Each entry shows the Rabbi, Hebrew date, location, and opens to a full biography. More than forty Sephardic Tsadikim included.
03 · Communities
How do I add my synagogue?
On the Communities page, submit your synagogue's weekly schedules. We verify and publish within 48 hours.
Is it really free for synagogues?
Yes. Listing, presentation, and updates — all free, forever, for every recognized Sephardic synagogue.
How do I propose a text correction?
For any remark on a text or transliteration, write to texts@kehila.ai — your remarks reach our rabbinic committee within 24 hours.
Who validates your texts?
Four recognized Sephardic rabbis, including Rav Yossef Aboukhatzira (Hekhal Shalom, Dollard-Des-Ormeaux). Every addition is reviewed before publication.
04 · Privacy · data
What data does Kehila A.I collect?
Your city (to compute astronomical times) and your chosen synagogue. That's it. We store no prayer data. No telemetry. No advertising identifier.
Do I need an account?
No. You can use the entire app without creating an account. An account is useful only to sync your settings across devices.
Is my data shared?
Never. See our Privacy policy for the technical details.
